Pope Leo XIV has appointed Bishop René Ramirez to be the Ninth Bishop of Sandhurst.

We congratulate Bishop Ramirez and are thrilled to welcome him back to the Diocese of Sandhurst, where from late 2023 he served as Parish Priest of Shepparton South and Nagambie and, later, also Supervising Priest at Rushworth, before he was ordained an Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne in February 2025.

Diocesan Administrator, Very Rev. Dr Brian Boyle notified the People of God in the Sandhurst Diocese, of the "joyous news", this evening.
